PADI Open Water Diver

Your First Scuba Certification!

The basic PADI Open Water Diver course is your gateway to the underwater world. It’s designed for you to learn progressively and safely through three stages: theory, pool practice, and open water dives.

  1. Theory (E-learning)
The theory part is completed online at your own pace. You’ll learn the fundamentals of diving, including safety, physiology, and equipment handling. This stage takes about 10 to 12 hours and must be completed before the pool session.

  2. Pool Session
In a controlled environment, you’ll learn to use your diving gear, practice basic buoyancy and breathing techniques, and build confidence underwater. This session lasts approximately 4 hours and can be done in Quito or Puerto López, depending on your location.

  3. Open Water Dives
This is the most exciting stage: your first real experiences under the sea! You will have two days of open water diving:

  • Day 1: You’ll complete two dives at nearshore sites such as Isla Salango, Islote Sucre, or Horno de Pan, where you’ll perform exercises and practice your skills. If a group of at least 4 students forms, activities can take place at the majestic Isla de la Plata.

  • Day 2: You’ll do two recreational dives, consolidating your skills with additional practice and enjoying the reefs and marine life. A minimum of 4 divers is required to conduct this stage at Isla de la Plata.

Price: $475
