Discovery Dive

Your First Step into the Underwater World!

Never dived before but curious about the underwater world? The Discovery Dive is your gateway. Designed especially for people without prior certification, this experience lets you explore the ocean safely, enjoyably, and with guidance. Accompanied at all times by a PADI instructor or divemaster, you’ll gradually immerse yourself in calm waters at your own pace and under constant supervision. It’s your “underwater baptism”!

You’ll complete two dives: the first focused on basic exercises to get familiar with the equipment and surroundings, and the second a recreational dive to enjoy the marine life. Dive sites are usually close to shore, such as Isla Salango, Islote Sucre, or Horno de Pan. If a group of at least 4 people forms, it’s also possible to do the experience at the majestic Isla de la Plata.

Dive sites within Machalilla National Park offer a fascinating mix of rocky bottoms, sandy areas, and coral reefs. During the dive, you may spot sea turtles, starfish, moray eels, rays, corals, octopuses, and a wide variety of tropical fish. If you visit between July and September, you might even encounter the majestic giant manta rays during their migration.
